Stakeholder Survey

Partners

This survey aims to build a clearer picture of current practices, bottlenecks, and the barriers and enablers to reusing and recycling critical raw materials (CRMs) across the value chain. CIRCUIT4EU focuses on recovering printed circuit boards (PCBs), permanent magnets (PMs) and electronic components (ECs) from products such as laptops, dishwashers, Wi-Fi routers and e-scooters.

The survey results will be shared with the CIRCUIT4EU stakeholder network. Register here to receive the results, project updates and invitations to events.

We recommend completing the survey on a computer rather than a smartphone.

Here is why your input matters

Waste treatment / recycling operators:

Your daily practice of dismantling and processing determines whether PCBs, electronic components, and permanent magnets keep their value or lose it. We would like to learn how these components are removed, what happens to them, and what drives or hinders preserving their integrity. This will ground our work on robotic disassembly and selective CRM recovery in the realities of treatment operations.

PCBA and electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) original equipment manufacturers (OEM)

We would like to know whether reused components and printed circuit boards (PCBs) could re-enter the manufacture of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) or electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), and if so, what your acceptance criteria would be. Tell us which components you source, what conditions secondary components need to meet, and what would encourage you to use more of them. Your answers give us the demand-side evidence needed to build a reliable European supply of secondary and refurbished electronics.

Repair and refurbishment operators

You are at the front line of giving refurbished and secondary components a second life. What you know about sourcing, quality and warranties will help us design testing, certification and traceability solutions that make reused parts safer, more reliable and easier to get hold of.

Producer Responsibility Organisations

How much do you know about the CRMs in the WEEE you handle? How much reuse already happens at treatment facilities, and which tools, from the Digital Product Passport to the WEEE Forum RepTool, could help steer management towards CRMs? Your answers will help us identify the barriers and incentives that determine how much high-quality CRM feedstock selective collection can deliver.

General

The survey is also open to those with expertise on reuse and recycling of CRMs across the EEE/WEEE value chain. Your experience can help us align with other initiatives and broaden our perspective.
